More Information
Bins - information changed April 2024
There are THREE wheelie bins – the blue for recycling paper and carrd, the green for recycling plastic and metals (including juice and food carton) and a grey bin for non-recyclable landfill. There is also a small box for glass bottles.
Recycling in this area includes paper & cardboard (folded flat), plastic bottles and containers (cleaned), food and drink tins and cans (cleaned), foil and foil containers (cleaned), aerosols, metal bottle tops, juice cartons (rinsed & flattened).
Bin collection day is Tuesday and the bin of the week will be taken to the bottom of the hill for you.
Toilets
The waste goes to a septic tank, so bleach cannot be used. Please do not flush wipes or sanitary products down the toilet. Only human waste and toilet paper please!
Fire
Please read the Emergency Plan.
To reduce the chances of a fire spreading, all doors should be kept closed while sleeping.
There is a designated Fire Door between the lounge and hall. This should be kept closed overnight.
There are three external doors for escape – ensure the passage to them is kept clear.
The hall area should be kept clear.
Fire Fighting Equipment
A fire blanket and extinguisher are stored next to the back door in the kitchen.
First Aid
A first aid kit is stored in the cupboard above the bottom drawer next to the back door in the kitchen.
No smoking policy
No smoking indoors. Smoking outdoors only and dispose of cigarettes responsibly using the sand bowl provided
No naked flame policy

Electrical Safety
We have carried out visual inspections of the appliances, and an independent Portable Appliance Check was carried out in 2022. Instruction manuals for the various appliances are inder the coffee table in the living room. We live next door so please contact us with any queries and to report any damage.
A smart meter has been fitted and the consumption details are displayed in the unit in the kitchen. We use low energy daylight bulbs. A qualified electrician carried an Electrical Installation Condition Report in 2022 (valid 5 years)
Heating
There is an oil fire heating system, with radiators in each room controlled by thermostatic valve. There is central thermostat in the hall. We recommend keeping this at 20 degrees. The heating and hot water come on twice a day, but can be boosted by pressing the buttons on the contriol unit in the kitchen. The boiler is serviced annually.
