Main House

This ancient and magnificent property lies at the end of a long drive over an old stone bridge south of Bergerac in the Dordogne on the edges of the Lot et Garonne.  Standing on what was probably an old roman site the main house is built over a smaller building whose foundation stones are roman.  There are apparently upwards of 12 springs on the land and walks that take you over old stone bridges and along old water courseways, streams and weirs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Follow the drive around to the entrance which is through a stunning 13th century pigeonnier.   The main house stands in a quadrangle overlooking the garden and the swimming pool area.  

 

 

To the right of the main house is  "La Maison du Jardin" which used to house the stallions, grooms' accommodation and the coach house.

 

The other 2 gites stand outside  the main pigeonnier entrance and used to house the other farm animals.

 

 

The property and its 3 gites stand in private land of 90 acres with tracks having been preserved around the fields so that one can take peaceful walks.

 Many of our guests have borrowed fishing rods and spent many happy hours sitting on the edge of the lake or borrowed one of the small boats to go fishing. There is an assortment of fish including large carp, eel, trout and perch. 

 

Wild life abounds around the lake area which is home to our own duck and Claude and Maud, the resident geese.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 It is also home to herons, kingfishers,  fireflies, frogs and toads and many  other rare and beautiful fauna and  flora can be spotted depending on  the season.

Other amenities include croquet, badminton, table tennis and a large shared  alarmed swimming pool of 12 x 6 metres.

 

      

 

 

 

 

There are fabulous victorian stables,  grass turnout and a manege should  you want to bring  your horse or pony  on holiday and we would be  delighted to accompany you on  hacks out.   

 

Our animals include horses, dogs, cats, geese ducks and hens and a rabbit and next year we hope to have a couple of pigs and some sheep as well as anything that happens to have ben recently rescued.  We have our own vegetable garden and orchard and eggs and fresh garden produce are often available.

Other amenities include croquet, badminton, table tennis and a large shared swimming pool of 12 x 6 ms.

Our home is a natural haven.  It is very peaceful and extremely beautiful.  A perfect place to unwind.
