Violet Cottage is only 8 miles from High Lodge Forest Centre, so is an ideal base for anyone attending the summer concerts in the forest. Also, forest walks and picnic areas are only a few miles away. The RSPB Lakenheath Fen Nature Reserve is only 5 miles away and regular events are organised for both adults and children with an interest in bird-watching or wildlife. There are good shopping malls in Norwich and Cambridge and more high street shopping in Kings Lynn and Bury St Edmunds. The pretty coastal resorts of Norfolk and Suffolk, also the Norfolk Broads, provide a wide choice for day trips.
