The Area

The north-west of Sutherland is often referred to as the UK's last wilderness.

Loch Inchard looking south towards Arkle and Stack

A rocky coastline indented with sea-lochs and edged with awesome cliffs is home to seals, otters and a variety of sea-birds.

Freshwater lochs and rivers provide scope for excellent trout and salmon fishing.  Walks and climbs to suit all abilities are available on pristine sandy beaches, loch-studded moorlands and mountains as old as time.

If your ideal holiday involves enjoying the outdoors in vast, wild spaces with endless skies and an incredible landscape, this is the place for you!

Oldshoremore Beach

Our self-catering flat is located in the scattered crofting community of Rhiconich, at the head of Loch Inchard.  The Rhiconich Hotel, which is open to non-residents, is conveniently situated on the opposite side of the road.

The villages of Kinlochbervie (5 miles), Scourie (12 miles) and Durness (15 miles) all have small grocery shops, hotels/restaurants and filling stations.  The filling station in Scourie is available on a 24-hour basis (credit-card operated).
